WHY IT WORKS (PER THE GUIDE) - FC 27 reworked defending: AI teammates still hold their shape and cut off space, but they no longer auto-tackle or step into passing lanes - That helps manual defending in open play - At kickoff your line has not set, so there is a gap between midfield and defence, and a lobbed through ball finds it WHAT EA SAYS (AS THE GUIDE REPORTS IT) - EA sees some early movement in the data around kickoff goals and is keeping a close eye on it - It is being very measured with gameplay changes - Title updates 1.0.1 and 1.0.4 did not touch competitive balance, so the guide says don't wait for a patch THE 7-STEP CHECKLIST 1. Whistle blows 2. Switch to your CDM (not a centre-back: pushing up breaks your line) 3. Sprint him back between the two centre-backs and into the gap 4. Offside trap if the line is too deep: double-tap up on the D-pad pushes the line forward about five metres 5. Contain to delay, don't tackle 6. Tackle on the heavy touch 7.
